First hole-in-one since 2004 in St Jude Classic Pro-Am

Woody Austin, the Memphis winner in 2007, provided some excitement for his celebrity group in the Championship Pro-Am when he made a hole-in-one on the par-3 No. 8 at TPC Southwind on Wednesday.

Austin used a 6-iron on the 173-yard hole to the delight of TV producer Tony Thomas, TV personality Phil Donahue and Memphian Scott McCormick, executive director of the Plough Foundation.
It was the 14th ace of Austin’s career.

“Actually, it’s the second for me in the last two months . . . . I had one at Houston,” Austin said. “Except the one in Houston counted.”

Holes-in-ones in pro-ams only count in tournament records. It was the 40th in the Memphis event, and the first since 2004.
