Cadence Bank & Cintas announce Community Shred Days Event

Memphis, TN (April 23, 2012) – In an effort to combat the growing problem of identity theft and fraud while helping to preserve our environment, Cadence Bank and Cintas® Document Management will sponsor the sixth-annual Community Shred Days. Memphis residents and businesses are invited to bring old and unwanted documents to Cadence Bank locations, where they will be securely destroyed free of charge. 

The events are:

Wednesday, April 25th
Folk’s Folly Branch
591 South Mendenhall
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Friday, April 27th
Union Branch
1516 Union Avenue
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The Spring Show by WinterArts is underway at the Shops of Saddle Creek in Germantown.

You'll find pieces by local artists including works in metal, wood, glass, clay, and fiber.

You can also buy paintings and jewelry.

The show runs through April 21st.

Saturday, April 14 is Super Saturday. Take advantage of the free AARP tax preparation assistance at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library from 10 am-5 pm in meeting rooms A, B, and C.

The deadline for the 2012 tax filing season is Tuesday, April 17. Follow the link to the MPLIC webpage for a schedule of participating locations, dates, and times.

Career & Internship Expo

Career & Internship Expo

Current students and alumni will have the opportunity to meet and network with potential employers at the University of Memphis on Wednesday, April 4th.

The Career Services Office and Academic Internship Office is bringing in more than 40 employers looking to recruit new employees. Students will be able to hand-deliver resumes to the businesses represented.

Some of the employers attending the expo include FedEx Ground, FedEx Services, Nucor Steel, Barnhart Crane and Rigging, Flinn Broadcasting Corp., and many others.

The annual expo will be held in the University Center Ballroom from 10a.m. to 3p.m.

On Thursday, March 22 at 6 pm at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, Vernon Tabor SCORE Counselor and restaurant owner will provide insight and useful tips to successfully owning and operating a restaurant.
