Human Trafficking Awareness Street Sign Campaign

(WMC-TV) - Every year in America, 100,000 to 300,000 youth are at-risk of being taken into human trafficking as a slave to be used for sex or labor exploitation.

More than $30 billion a year is made from this exploitation in America. The only way to combat this modern-day slavery is to educate our citizens on ways to keep their own children and the people around them safe.

Over 4,000 people went missing in the State of Tennessee last year alone, but we didn't find 4,000 bodies, so we ask you...where are they? Chances are they may be at risk for exploitation, if we don't do our part.

A Bridge of Hope will be doing another Human Trafficking Educational Street Sign Campaign on Saturday October 6, 2012 from 10:00a.m. - 2:00p.m. The event will be held on the corners of Poplar Avenue and Ridgeway Road in Memphis. Parking will be available in the Regalla Shopping Center in the Ruth Chris Steak House Parking Lot.

How to shield your smart phone from hacking

How to shield your smart phone from hacking

Cyber-criminals can hack your smart phone just like they'd hack your computer.

A spokesperson for ProtectMyID.com, an identity protection service sold by credit bureau Experian, said one in every seven of those hackers is a friend or relative of their victims. They call that "friendly fraud."

Doesn't sound very friendly to me.

These are user-friendly, though. They are ProtectMyID.com's tips to prevent smart phone hacking:

* Password protect your phone with a unique password. Use different passwords for each online account. The Secret Service recommends passwords with at least eight characters, mixing letters, numbers, symbols and cases.

* When finished, log out of applications that automatically access payment information.

The city of Germantown is doing a prescription drug Take-Back in September.

That means any old, unused or unwanted prescriptions can be turned in so they don't fall into the wrong hands or hurt the environment.

This is not the first time an event like this has happened in the Mid-South.

The hope is the make sure that the drugs don't get flushed down the toilet or contribute to abuse.

It starts at 10 in the morning and goes until two in the afternoon on Saturday, September 29th.

There are three dropoff locations.

Fire station 3 at 7766 Farmington Boulevard.

Also, the Kroger locations at 2130 Exeter Road and 7735 Farmington Boulevard.

Police identify suspect, need help finding him

(WMC-TV) - It didn't take long for the public to help Germantown police identify a suspect in a pair of recent burglaries, but investigators say they still need help tracking the man down.

Tips to Crime Stoppers helped the city's police department identify Chase Lipsey as one of 2 people possibly responsible for burglaries in the area of Brierbrook Road and Sonning Drive on Wednesday. Police received the tips within a day of releasing surveillance photos.

Lipsey is wanted for aggravated burglary and theft.

Police say the 22-year-old may be driving a 1999 Honda Accord.

However, investigators say they still need help identifying Lipsey's female accomplice.

Anyone who can help police find Lipsey, or identify the woman with him in surveillance pictures should call Germantown Crime Stoppers at 901-757-2274.
