Kiwanis name Germantown police officer of the year

Each year the Kiwanis Club of Germantown recognizes an officer who best represents the professionalism defined by the acronym PRIDE: Performance, Responsibility, Integrity, Dedication, and Empathy. This year the club recognizes Lt. Angie Lewis. Lt. Lewis handles a wide variety of activities for the Germantown Police Department.

Police search for suspect in Cordova bank robbery

CORDOVA, TN (WMC-TV) - A suspect remains at large in the Tuesday morning robbery of the  Regions Bank at 1045 North Germantown Parkway.

According to authorities, a lone woman entered the bank just before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.

"We had a lone female enter the bank, produced a weapon, and demanded money from the teller," said Lt. Preston Morton.

After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the woman fled in what was described as a late model silver or blue Pontiac.

Witnesses said a dye pack exploded in the getaway car and red smoke was seen coming from the car.

Confrontation at nightclub spills into streets of Germantown

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A confrontation at a Memphis nightclub spilled into the streets of Germantown early Monday morning as bullets flew between vehicles following a violent argument.

Club Visions on Ridgeway and Winchester usually attracts large crowds.  The club is where this problem began in the early hours of Monday morning.

Memphis businessman in murder for hire plot commits suicide

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis businessman is suspected of taking his own life rather than turning himself in to police as the suspect in a murder for hire plot.

Two hours before 53-year-old Kenneth Glenn's agreed upon surrender time, Shelby County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home just outside of Collierville where they found him dead in the yard with a gunshot wound to his chest and a pistol by his side.

The Collierville Police Department says the businessman wanted another man dead and hired someone to do the job.

The target of the alleged plot, found out about it and reported it to police.
