MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - A preliminary report shows a Germantown doctor's plane lost power before crashing in Mississippi.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the September 2 crash near Tillatoba.

The report says the pilot, Dr. Kenneth Byrd, was flying from North Carolina to the Olive Branch Airport.

He used a radio in an attempt to contact Memphis air traffic control about diverting to Water Valley Municipal Airport because of bad weather.

Byrd was seriously injured in the crash. He was stuck in the plane all night before he was found.
