MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - Shelby County District Attorney General's Office confirmed that a former Germantown deputy court clerk is placed on diversion for 10 years in an embezzlement case.

Janet Donnell, 45, pleaded guilty to theft charges on Sept. 13. She is ordered to repay the $3,500 she stole as well as reimburse the city more than $15,000 for an accounting firm's audit.

Special Judge L.T. Lafferty said he granted diversion after hearing from lawyers, a former employer, family and even a police officer who testified that the theft was out of character for her.
