MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) – The Shelby County School Board will vote Monday night on a proposal to keep several schools within its borders.
Almost a week ago, Shelby County School Superintendent Dorsey Hopson dropped a bombshell that angered a lot of people in Germantown.
He recommended Germantown Elementary, Middle & High stay with Shelby County Schools, when Germantown forms its own district.
That move would affect 1300 out of 4500 Germantown municipal students. SCS wants to maintain control of those schools because it does not have facilities in Southeast Shelby County.
Action News 5 has learned that negotiations have been going on concerning these planned changes, which also includes SCS keeping control of Lucy Elementary near Millington.
The SCS board plans to vote Monday night at 5:30 on the proposal. Look for an update tonight on Action News 5 at 10.
