Big band sounds take the stage at Germantown's Great Hall in free event

Whether you like to sit and tap a toe to great tunes or to jitterbug your way across the floor, you're going to love the Memphis Knights Big Band.

The Town of Collierville and Kiwanis Club are excited to present the 2nd Annual Haunted Trail October 26 and 27 designed to offer the complete scare experience in Collierville's best backyard!

Children ages 10 and up and adults will enjoy this thrilling adventure set on the beautiful and scenic grounds of W. C. Johnson Park - that is, until the sun sets and the lights go dim.

For those who need an adrenaline rush, the Haunted Trail will not disappoint! Various scare stations around the lake and through the woods will provide ample opportunities to test the ticker.

Entrance into The Haunted Trail is $10.00.

Tickets will be sold on site.

Local church sponsors Turkey mission trip

Local church sponsors Turkey mission trip

Ridgeway Baptist Church, located in East Memphis, sent a Mission Team to Istanbul, Turkey.  The team arrived in Turkey on Friday, September 21st and was there until Saturday the 29th.  One of the team members, Renee Shackelford, shared her experiences and photos on the Ridgeway facebook page.  Here, in her words, is what the team participated during their time in Turkey.  Later in October the mission team will be traveling to India.  More information about Ridgeway Baptist Church can be found here.

'Little black dress' fundraiser prepares women to enter workforce

Time to get fancy, put on your little black dress --to impress!

The "Little Black Dress Reception" fundraiser will serve as the precursor to the Dress for Success Upscale Garage Sale.

The Organization helps women prepare to re-enter the workplace by outfitting them with professional clothing for interviews.

Then, they're provided a week worth of clothes once they get the job.

In addition, they provide computer training as well as resume workshops.

Great cause and a deal you can't pass up.

The event is a cocktail reception with food donated from various restaurants and chefs from across the city ranging from Sweetgrass to a Moveable Feast.

The highlight of the evening is the fashion show.

This year's models will be participants from the Professional Women's Group who will be wearing pieces that can be purchased at the garage sale in the weeks followi

Local mom finds Mid-South kid-friendly restaurants

(WMC-TV) - Are you looking for Mid-south restaurants that have separate play areas for the kids?  Here is a list of Memphis-Mom approved restaurants. 

One restaurant that has many locations and is family-friendly is Chick-fil-A.  They have separate and sound-proofed play area for children.  They also provide free Wi-Fi for those parents that need to get some work in while the kids play.

There are several great places with play areas in the Collierville area.  One is the Dinks location in Collierville.  They have a playroom for kids in the back corner.  The Back Yard Burgers on Houston Levee also has a great play area.

Countrywood Neighborhood Sale

Every year, yard sale bargain hunters flock to Cordova, Tennessee for the annual Countrywood Neighborhood Sale sponsored by the Countrywood Neighborhood Association.

On Friday, September 22, the huge yard event will draw crowds from all over the Greater Memphis area and from neighboring states.

Last year the sale was a huge success.  More than 200 residents participated

Rain or shine, the participating vendors will sell their almost brand new or slightly used items from furniture to clothing and televisions to motorized vehicles to make a buck.  Not to mention the local economy benefited as people booked hotel rooms for a few days to stay and visit the grand city of Memphis to shop it’s local stores and dine in local restaurants.
