A senior music major at the University of Memphis was given “the golden ticket” to move onto American Idol's next round in Hollywood.

Anna Melvin recently auditioned for judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj on the popular reality show.

According to the Memphis Daily News, Melvin is on full scholarship with Sound Fuzion, the U of M’s commercial music ensemble.

Melvin graduated in 2009 from Briarcrest Christian School, where she participated in musicals and Honors Chamber Choir.
