Photo Gallery | Group supports St. Jude patient by shaving heads

Many members of a local video production team shaved their heads in solidarity with a St. Jude patient.

St. Jude patient Ava Roten is the daughter of a Running Pony Productions staffer, and she was thrilled when her Dad got the first haircut.

Ava was diagnosed with a brain tumor on October 22, 2012.

According to the Pray for Ava Facebook page, three weeks before Ava's diagnosis she began having seizures which led her parents to take her to a pediatrician.

Her father began to think that maybe the seizures were something she would possibly grow out of in her early teen years, but he wanted to be on the safe side.

The parents had an electroencephalography done and during the test, the doctors actually got Ava to have a seizure by blowing on a pinwheel.

Her seizure lasted for over a minute.

Since Ava's EEG came back abnormal, an MRI was ordered to be done.

This is when the family found out about her tumor.

At Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Dr. Frederick Boop was able to make a complete resection of the tumor.

But because of the aggressiveness of the tumor, she had to immediately undergo radiation and chemotherapy.

You can see more of the story and support Ava and her family on the "Pray for Ava"  Facebook page here.

Running Pony staff members and friends also created a "Team Ava" Facebook page, you can click here to see it.
